BOSTON, MASS. – The Asian American Action Fund today endorsed Suzanne Lee for Boston City Council, District 2. Lee, a long-time educator and public school principal, resides in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood. She is running against incumbent Bill Linehan in a district that covers South Boston, the South End, and Chinatown.

“Suzanne is a dedicated and passionate community leader who has worked tirelessly to educate and inspire Boston’s children,” said Gautam Dutta, AAA-Fund Executive Director. “The AAA-Fund is very proud to endorse her for Boston City Council.”

Suzanne Lee is a community advocate and educator with a long and successful record of reforming public schools. As a principal, she led a high-profile turnaround of the Baldwin School, transforming a low-achieving and divided school into a nationwide model for reform. Lee also headed the Josiah Quincy School, which was named one of the top schools in Massachusetts.

“I’ve spent my career bringing people together to solve problems,” said Lee. “As a member of the City Council, I plan to continue my work in supporting our public education system and our hardworking families. Thank you to the AAA-Fund for supporting me and investing in the people of Boston.”

In addition to her education background, Lee has been an outspoken community leader for decades. Her efforts include founding the Chinese Progressive Association, supporting affordable housing efforts throughout Boston, working to establish the city’s first bilingual job-training program, and leading the movement to provide Chinese and Vietnamese voters with bilingual ballots.

“Suzanne has proven herself time and time again as a champion of the people,” said AAA-Fund Endorsement Chair Caroline Fan. “We look forward to supporting her throughout the campaign because we believe that she will make an invaluable contribution to the Boston City Council.”
