Editor’s Note: We’ve released a press release about this issue. The Huffinton Post quoted that release at “Radio Hosts’ Racially Charged Remarks Against Asian-American Candidate Stir National Controversy” which has additional coverage. Moer coverage at dozens of sites including here.
China bashing is always a popular political sport any campaign season. Between attacks on Adelson (even if the allegations of affiliated prostitution may be true) and Hoekstra (who was thankfully defeated and should be repeatedly defunded and defeated upon his every attempt) and the China bashing watch news alerts that’ll never end, it’s at least unfortunate and at most racist. Let’s not even begin with how educated people know that China bashing is also bad for the economy.
As said before too many times, religion and politics are covers for one’s personal flaws. When you’ve God or the GOP’s version of Christianity, you can be racist and sound totally just being a lower human being.
Thus why on July 6th, WYSL 1040 AM broadcasters Bill Nojay (who’s also running as a Republican for New York State Assembly) and his co-host Bob Savage used unacceptable language and extremely offensive music when referring to Nate Shinagawa, an Asian American running as the Democratic nominee to represent New York’s 23rd Congressional District. Their racist, un-American speech only furthers prejudices and stereotyping that cause division and ignore a lengthy and continuing history of anti-Asian racism. Tell WYSL it’s plain racism by dialing their (585) 346-3000 and faxing their (585) 346-0450.
Conservatives sometimes refer to CA as the “People’s Republic of CA” which is where Nate is originally from, but that cultural note smacks of more racist element. Don’t brush it aside, racists need to be exposed & publically shamed even if it risks giving them publicity and desensitizing the public. Shame them each and everytime, all. Lest this post be so short it comes off as a political email, I assure you the brevity is written out of my desire to see these racists sent off air or at least continuously aired for who they are: racists.
