Ouch, it looks like voters’ sentiments are swinging back and forth in a pendulum of unease. Corzine lost to Chris Christie in NJ and Deeds lost by close to 20 points (gulp!) in Virginia.
In a nod towards incumbents, Boston Mayor Menino and NYC Mayor Bloomberg kept their seats.
In a bright spot for Asian Americans, VA legislative candidate Mark Keam won his race, and John Liu becomes NYC’s first citywide elected official.
The gay marriage initiative in Maine remains too close to call, while voters in WA State approved civil unions: http://www.shewired.com/Article.cfm?ID=23869
So mostly a mixed bag today, with some dispiriting results in some places and fresh beginnings in others.
