LOS ANGELES – The Asian American Action Fund will host a Meet the California Attorney General Candidates Town Hall on Monday, Nov. 16th at 6:30 p.m.
The participating Democratic candidates include: Assemblymember Ted Lieu (confirmed), Assemblymember Pedro Nava (confirmed), and Assemblymember Alberto Torrico (confirmed), and former Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Chris Kelly (pending).
“It’s critical that we hear from, and learn more about, the candidates for Attorney General. History has shown that whoever becomes Attorney General stands a good chance of becoming California’s next Governor,” said Gautam Dutta, AAA-Fund Executive Director.
“This is a strong, diverse field of candidates competing for the Democratic primary, including three candidates with Asian American heritage (Lieu, Torrico, Harris). Considering the record turnout of Asian American voters in 2008, this race could generate significant interest and participation in the Asian American community next year,” Dutta added.
The Town Hall will be moderated by Dutta and include questions from the audience. A straw poll will be conducted immediately after the Q&A session.
The event will be held at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, located at 350 S. Bixel St., Los Angeles, CA 90017. Attendance is free and open to the public. To RSVP, please email Jenny Jiang at jenny.jiang AT gmail.com.
A webcast of the Town Hall will be posted on AAA-Fund’s award-winning blog at www.aaa-fund.com.
About the Asian American Action Fund
The AAA-Fund, a Democratic political action committee, aims to increase the voice of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) on every level of local, state and federal government in America. To achieve this goal, we address the chronic under-representation of AAPIs as campaign volunteers, campaign contributors, and candidates for political office. The AAA-Fund has endorsed candidates across the country. Visit www.aaa-fund.org to learn more.
