Lane Lewis and Brenda Stardig are battling it out in District A. This one looks clearcut to me, but I’m not in District A.

Perhaps the most fascinating thing about Stardig is how massively ineffective she wants to be should she win a seat on City Council:

Stardig said she has specific flood control projects in mind, but did not want to speak publicly about them out of a fear of hurting property values. Instead, she emphasizes that she already is trying to recruit businesses to the district the same way she sells homes, by selling the virtues of District A.

And while Houston’s possibly historic mayoral race has become depressing, the District A race is downright entertaining:

The two have not debated face to face — unless you count Lewis’ version of them shouting at each other from separate cars while driving down Long Point.

According to Lewis, he attended a Spring Branch West superneighborhood meeting on Nov. 12. Attendees asked aloud why Stardig was not present and speculated that she was at a nearby bar.
One focus: apartments

After the meeting, Lewis went to the bar and photographed the license plate on what he believed to be Stardig’s car, he said.

While driving home, he said, Stardig pursued him, honking her horn, swerving to both sides of his vehicle and shouting questions at him. Lewis said he shouted answers back.

“It was an irresponsible choice that a candidate for a district race for City Council would choose a bar instead of a neighborhood meeting,” Lewis said.

“I’ve been everywhere I need to be,” Stardig said. She would not comment on specifics of the encounter.

As the eight-day-out report shows, they’ve raised nearly equal amounts, but Stardig seems to have spent more on various outreach efforts.

Asian American Democrats of Texas endorses Lane Lewis in this race.

I hope Lewis can bring his experiences evaluating complaints against police officers and assisting homeless gay youth to his desires to promote green space with development around it to Houston City Council.
