South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), a national non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the full and equal participation of South Asians in the civic and political life of the United States through policy advocacy, community mobilization, leadership development, and partnerships, is pleased to announce openings for consultancy and internship positions in 2010.
NYC Racial Profiling Project Coordinator
The NYC Racial Profiling Project Coordinator will advance the work of a new collaborative that will document the impact of post-9/11 racial and religious profiling on the South Asian community through coordinated research, communications, and policy advocacy. The project duration is January 2010 through December 2011 and will be based in New York City. More information, including job responsibilities and qualifications, is available here.

Policy and Research Consultant
The Policy and Research Consultant will advance SAALT’s policy advocacy work on specific issues affecting the South Asian community, including immigration reform, post-9/11 discrimination and profiling, and gender equity. The position will be a temporary consultancy between January and June 2010. More information, including job responsibilities and qualifications, is available here.

Internship Positions
Administrative/Program Intern (Spring 2010)
Assist with program development including research and writing components
Support program preparation involving conference calls, research, and planning for Town Hall forums across the country
Assist with community outreach, recruitment of event co-sponsors, and advertising for community events across the country
SAALT will be able to provide a small stipend and/or work with potential candidates to arrange class credit. We expect a commitment of 15-20 hours per week for 10-12 weeks.
Blog Intern (Ongoing)
Assist with maintaining and updating the SAALT Spot
Post short daily updates (Daily Buzz) on the SAALT Spot using available resources (Google Reader/alerts) with stories of interest to the South Asian community
Write longer pieces based on interest/need
Help moderate comments as necessary
